Lahoma

Introducing the bright and vivacious Lahoma.

Lahoma_face_closeup_2_blog

Lahoma's name means 'the people', and there's nothing more she loves than a huge party.  She is great at making friends and loves discos, playing tambourine, snow cones and roasted sweet potato.  Lahoma really dislikes monkeys.  When she is old enough she wants to eat an entire raw chilli.

A Little More Energy

After two weeks with the flu I felt a tincy surge of a just a little more energy today.  So I put it to great use and finished off a couple of totes that have been swaying in the window on coat hangers in dribs and drabs.

The first is affectionately named 'Freja'.  Freja is a lovely deep, deep tote where books find sleepy happiness.  Completely from op-shop finds (except the button) Freja is a unique once-off creation.  I had a lot of fun making this one :)

The second tote I finished off today shall be known as 'Transmission'.

I love how this quirky number turned out, a random cream/yellow bold pattern and two lovely tweeds once destined for men's suits.  The icing on this lovely is this random patch which I absolutely love.  A little radio man transmitting to the world.

On the back three little sewn on patches of fabric create some sneaky intrest.

These two totes, Freja and Transmission are now up on etsy.

Hope you are all having fun.

A little of everything

Today is an anything goes kinda day, so please excuse me if this blog has absolutely no flow whatsoever.  I always have a few niggling pics that just don't seem to fit any blog...so this is the blog where they all find a home.

I love this pic of assorted cocktail hats bundled together for a cocktail, backyard, summery, birthday party.

Ode To A Fungi Filled Day

Just a couple of days ago I spent a gorgeous day in our local park for a barbeque with friends.

Zephyr_quota_park_blog
Our doggy, Zephyr, ended up a little muddy.

After much rain a stunning array of fungi and lichens are blooming in the gardens.  Here are some of the spectacular displays.

Here is a stunning tree which grows through a deck.  Everytime we visit this park I love to stand beneath and day dream up into its branches.

This week I have spent some time, in between moaning in bed with the flu, sewing some funky bags.

Here is the Lola Lotus Tote.  The delicious button is an op-shop find.

Brain Soggy

Friday already!  I think my brain is going a little soggy with all of this rain.  It's been raining for weeks!

Verandah_foot_dec_07_blog
The verandah seems a little worse for wear, all peely and rotty.  The paths seem a little slippery and growing.

I'm sure this camping gnome with all of his red topped mushies is enjoying this weather.

Surely it has to stop one day.
Here's happy wishes to all the other soaked people throughout the world and thumbs up to the rest who are sun-baking :)

Breathe Baby Breathe Breathe

I'm having a very...just keep breathing...kind of day.  An entire month has skipped past in a blur and I'm not sure what I should be doing to get my little sewy business moving along.

Widdling away two weeks as part of a voluntary art decor team was heaven on a stick and the folk festival itself...well, lets just say it was wet....very wet.  So alright lets be honest, it rained and poured and rained and turned into a slush of stinking rotten mud to the point where my motto became - gumboots, tent, tent, gumboots.  Luckily I snapped some gorgeous pre-festival pics while the sun blossomed on.

It's not raining!

Salata_jindaburra_wdfrd_setup_07_bl

Introducing Jindaburra, a stunning Tawny Frogmouth.  He became much loved by many festival volunteers while he lived in the ladies bathroom munching on moths.  He was found orphaned by his human mummy and will soon be old enough to explore the world (outside the toilets).

After much painting, sawing, sewing, sorting (and hula hooping), it was time for a christmas break before the festival.

Yummy summer pjs.

When we returned to the festival site on Boxing Day...all 250 volunteers had been over-run by thousands of festival goers who just seemed to sprout out of the fertile earth like mushrooms!  It was time for the fun (and rain) to begin.

After the festival a much needed chillout was in order.  Along with a lot of washing and scrubbing of camping gear!

Time to cuddle the latest addition to the street.

After a few days of being completely freaked out by living in a garden rather than a tiny cage, the six new hennys are extremely ecstatic.  They scratch and cluck their way around a fertile garden with a lovely tree to squabble under and little places to nest.
